I was born and raised in Ohio. After receiving my Ph.D. in sociology from The Ohio State University, I moved to South Carolina where I was a professor at the University of South Carolina Aiken. I continued my career in academics until God’s call became so strong that I had to follow it to Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, where I completed my Masters of Divinity.
I have a passion for worship leadership and like to explore diverse ways of worshipping while maintaining Presbyterian traditions. Additionally, I truly enjoy a good faith discussion and appreciate the sense of openness to learning I have found among the congregants at PCE.
My husband, Bob Freymeyer, was also a sociology professor (at Presbyterian College); in fact, we met at a sociology convention in New Orleans.
We have two adult children. Our son, Nathaniel, recently earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry and has a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Our daughter, Anna, teaches kindergarten in Memphis, Tennessee. She loves being able to get children off to a strong school start.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, doing crafts, and working on puzzles. Both Bob and I like to attend sporting events (although sometimes rooting for different teams). I am an Ohio State and Cleveland Guardians fan, while he cheers for the Orioles and Vanderbilt. We find travel exciting and restoring. We have visited all seven continents and over 50 countries.
