The Right Reverend Joel Marcus Johnson is a long time Easton resident and retired Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of The Chesapeake, covering the Delmarva Peninsula, and African diplomatic and academic Anglicans in Washington. He took his education at the University of Chicago and the Seminary of the Diocese of Ely in England. During his ministry here, the bishop served both English and Spanish language missions, and served as episcopal visitor to Mexico and other Latin American nations. In retirement, he has re-purposed his vocation as founder and chief visionary officer of The Oaks of Mamre Interfaith Library and Graduate Center, a special project of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, and soon to go under the canopy of a major Washington university. He is married with one grown son.
