Kayaking is just one of the small group of members meeting at the church. Our church has small groups of members that are interested in many different topics. Some are formal and others are adhoc and only meeting during certain times of the year. Bible Study, Women’s Association Circles, Community Garden are just a few.
In 2016 we had two trips and 2017 we had 4 trips. These included Pocomoke River, Leeds Creek, Tukahoe reek, and Spencer Creek. We didn’t have any trips in 2018 because of the extreme heat most of the summer. Our members Spring and Fall schedules also prevented us from arranging a kayaking trip. We hope to do better in 2019.
May 21, 2017: Pocomoke River was the first trip. We left the church parking lot around 11:30 for the drive to Snow Hill Maryland. Took a little over an hour, but it was an uneventful drive. We stopped at Canoe Pocomoke, loaded our kayaks and rented canoe and were driven upriver about 5 miles and put in the water. It was slow, interesting trip down river. All types of birds, geese, ducks, and turtles were seen on the trip. Good time was had by all. Terry, Mitch, Emily, Ed, and Chris are shown in the photo.
June 25, 2017: Leeds Creek
July 9, 2017: Tuckahoe Creek
July 31, 2017: Spencer Creek
2016: Completed Trips
June 18, 2016: Skipton Creek was the site for this trip. The parking area for the cars was a little tight, but the ramp was nice and it was easy to put the kayaks into the water. The weather was calm and the water very smooth. After the kayaking, we return to Anne’s house for a light meal. It was superb.
July 10, 2016: Kingston Landing on the Choptank River was the start of this trip. We started this trip at 4:00 pm. Once in the water we moved south to the entrance of Kings Creek and then moved up stream. The tide was high when we started and started dropping as the day went on. On occasion the water was very shallow, but very smooth. Once out of the water, we went to Chris and Tal’s place for a light meal. A good time was had by all.
Here’s a video of last year trip.
